LaserSpeed – length control applications
Many manufacturing processes use contact wheels with encoders to measure the speed and length of the product during production. However for many processes this is not as straight forward as it could be because the product being measured is either soft, sticky, coated in oil or subject to rapid acceleration or deceleration. This makes measurement with traditional contact wheels inaccurate and requires constant maintenance. The LaserSpeed is used as a direct replacement in many of these applications improving the accuracy from only 2-3% to better than 0.05% and providing a level of consistency that was previously impossible. Furthermore being non contact the gauge is maintenance free resulting in lower running costs. The LaserSpeed is used on many cut-to-length applications where a shear or flying saw is used in process to cut the continuous product to short lengths. The LaserSpeed can be used on all types of products including: Flooring materials, carpet, gypsum board, OSB & MDF panels, insulation materials, stone and glass wool, steel and aluminium.
