ProfiCast - Overview
Overview
The ProfiCastTM is a laser measurement system for in-line width and edge profile measurement of slabs in a continuous casting plants. The system continuously measures the slab edge shape and determines the average width. It is also suitable for measuring cold slabs on entry to the reheat furnace in hot rolling mills.

Operating principle
The ProfiCastTM system uses the principle of scanning laser
triangulation. A sensor is mounted each side of the slab which scans the laser
so that the full edge profile can be determined. The scanning of both lasers
are synchronized so that the width can also be measured.
