Overview
The SlabProfiler is a laser measurement system for in-line width and edge profile measurement of slabs in continuous casting plants. The SlabProfiler uses two LIMAB ProfiCura-2D laser profile sensors that capture the entire edge profile at a rate of 240 Hz. The slab width and edge shape are continuously measured and displayed both graphically and numerically on the operator screen. The SlabProfiler provides instant recognition of out of shape or dimensional problems of slabs and provides users with an invaluable tool for monitoring the casting process.

Operating principle
The SlabProfiler system uses LIMAB’s ProfiCura-2D sensors which use the principle of 2D laser triangulation capturing the true profile at a rate of 240Hz. Two sensors are used one mounted either side of the slab which capture the both edge shapes. The sampling of both lasers are synchronized so that the width can also be measured.
