In line with LIMAB’s philosophy on continuous improvement of our products to meet demands from our customers. We have recently introduced a new add-on module to our well established GMS1100 gypsum board dimensional measuring system.
With the addition of two LaserSpeed length gauges and updated software the GMS1100 system will monitor the length of the wet board after the knife and the dry length after the exit of the dryer. Shrinkage is hard to predict as it depends on board dimensions, moisture, gypsum quality, paper properties and other factors. Because of this variability the wet cut is always over-length to ensure an adequate safety margin to account for this variability. Using the LIMAB length control system it is now possible to continuously monitor the two lengths and determine the actual shrinkage. Having the tools to monitor this means the over-length safety margin can be reduced without fear of cutting too short. This can save several millimetres on each board making a large material saving and improving plant yield.
